EVENTOS EN MADRID

World Pride Madrid
WORLD PRIDE MADRID
The biggest global event for the LGBTI community is coming to Madrid this year. From 23 June to 2 July, the capital will be showcasing its open, welcoming and tolerant attitude to the whole world with World Pride, offering a wide-ranging and diverse cultural and leisure programme for everyone.
This year, for the first time in Madrid, the WorldPride Park will be held at Madrid Río Park, where collectives and associations will have an area for information sharing and cultural exchange. Madrid's Chueca neighbourhood will be one of the main spaces for this celebration. The action will be spreading out to other fantastic settings too, such as Plaza de Colón, Plaza de España, Puerta de Alcalá gate and Puerta del Sol. Unmissable events celebrating that 'Whoever you love, Madrid loves you' will include, among many others, the muestra•t, La Culta and La Oculta festivals; the first Diversity Race (25 June); activities connected with the LGBT community in institutions and cultural centres like CentroCentro Cibeles, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and Naves Matadero; plus the Pride Parade (1 July), the huge Gay Pride march that sees  over three million people flock to the city's main streets.

Check out the latest issue of Madrid is Culture and discover more than 40 exhibitions across Madrid's museums and cultural centres, including Witches, the Metamorphosis of Goya at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum; Pity and Terror. 4th Centenary of Plaza Mayor
Madrid continues to host a myriad of activities commemorating the 400th anniversary of Plaza Mayor, one of its most iconic sites. Five events are scheduled for this month: Andante, an encounter with the performing arts taking place in the square and the surrounding area featuring object theatre, dance and music; a photography set run by PHotoEspaña, where visitors and locals can have their portrait taken by top photographers; a concert by the Bankia Symphony Orchestra; Four Seasons, an initiative inviting four artists to intervene in the square and turn it into a kind of arts playground; plus the exhibition 400 Years of Plaza Mayor in Contemporary Graphics, in the Vaulted Room at Casa de la Panadería.

4th Centenary of Plaza Mayor

With a total of 100 exhibitions featuring work by 514 artists and a programme made up of 20 activities for professionals and the general public across more than 60 venues, the International Photography and Visual Arts Festival is celebrating two successful decades raising awareness of the latest trends in the art of photography as well as new projects by internationally acclaimed artists. This year's event, for example, features National Photography Award winner Alberto García-Alix, who has prepared six exhibitions located in different cultural spaces across Madrid entitled “The Exaltation of the Being”.

Barro, at Conde Duque
Conde Duque greets the summer solstice with a special premiere. On 22 June, renowned choreographer, dancer and director Sharon Fridman will be presenting Barro, a performance piece inspired by six paintings by various artists from the 1980s with exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), which will be projected onto the dancers throughout the entire show. A unique visual and emotional experience, where artistic disciplines like painting, dance and video art come together in a moving tribute to creative processes.

Mulafest
MULAFEST

From 30 June to 2 July at Ifema, MULAFEST will be turning Madrid into a leading destination for fans of tattoo, garage and custom paint, art, live music, urban sports, exhibitions and street food. This is the sixth year of the urban trends and culture festival, focusing on everything that can be personalised or “customised” as an expression of each person's individuality. Madrid Tattoo Convention, the international gathering of tattoo experts and enthusiasts; Isla Kalise (1,000 square metres of beach with loungers and beach shack bar for welcoming summer and practising urban sports); plus beatboxing, breakdance and kangoo jump demonstrations are just a few of the attractions on the programme.

Disney in Concert, at the Price
The festive season is nearly upon us, which means that the city of Madrid is getting ready to host another “Christmas at the Price”, the show with which Teatro Circo Price bids farewell to 2016 and welcomes in the New Year. Wonderful creatures, acrobats, trapeze artists and clowns will be taking audiences on an entertaining journey that will thrill adults and children alike. Tickets for shows, scheduled from 2 December until 8 January, are up for grabs now, with some great discounts of between 20% and 40% on advance ticket sales.
