29/10/2016 Mariano Rajoy is re-elected as President of the Government On Saturday, 29 October, Mariano Rajoy was invested as President of the Government at the plenary session of the Lower House of Parliament by 170 votes in favour, 111 against and 68 abstentions. At the end of the investiture session, Mariano Rajoy announced, in the corridors of the Lower House, that on Thursday afternoon he will nominate his government, who on Friday will be sworn into office before the King.

27/10/2016 On Saturday Mariano Rajoy will stand for second round of voting to be invested The acting President of the Government and candidate for re-election, Mariano Rajoy, will try to gain the confidence of the Lower House of Parliament on Saturday, 29 October, after failing to receive the support, by absolute majority, of the Lower House in the first round of voting, as required under Article 99 of the Spanish Constitution. The result was 170 votes in favour and 180 against.
