The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, took stock of the first half of the year following the Council of Ministers meeting, at which it was agreed to appeal against the reform of the Regulation of the Regional Parliament of Catalonia. Mariano Rajoy highlighted that in the second quarter of this year Spain has recovered the level of wealth prior to the crisis and advocated maintaining the commitment to fiscal consolidation and structural reform.
At the ceremony to award the Medals for Merit at Work, the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, highlighted that Spain heads up growth among advanced economies and is creating jobs "at a very good pace", as shown by the reduction in unemployment figures in the second quarter of this year. He also argued that the commitment by the Spanish society to harmony has allowed "an open, tolerant and dynamic Spain" to be built.
The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, reiterated, at the press briefing following the Council of Ministers, that "a referendum will not be held on 1 October" in Catalonia. The government also agreed to approve an agreement so that the Ministry of Public Works can take charge of toll motorways that are bankrupt, through a public enterprise.
