AUTUMN-WINTER OFFICIAL GUIDED TOUR PROGRAMME
The Official Guided Tour Programme organised by the City Council offers 30 different tours a week. It has been updated for the autumn-winter season with six interesting new options, including the dramatised tours “Crime and Mystery in Old Madrid” and “Celebrating Cervantes”; the culinary itineraries “Madrid’s Markets” (Routes I and II) and “Tapas Tour in Madrid”; and the special family-oriented tours “Hapsburg Madrid for Children” and “Literary Madrid for Children”.
In addition to these new options, the programme includes the ever-popular “Essential Madrid” tours, which are given in several languages and introduce participants to some of the capital city’s uniquely distinctive spots, as well as the “Legends, Haunted Houses and Ghosts in the City and Court” itinerary. All tours are led by professional guides and last approximately two hours.  Zuloaga and Falla at CentroCentro
Until 31 January, CentroCentro will host the exhibition Zuloaga and Falla: Story of a Friendship, which explores the relationship between the painter and composer, the way they influenced each other and the work the two artists produced together, making use of documents and objects to set their work in the context of their story. The show is organised by CentroCentro Municipal Cultural Centre, Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), the Ignacio Zuloaga Pedraza Castle Museum and the Manuel de Falla Archive.

Madrid Architecture Week
The annual architecture event returns to Spain’s capital city. The programme for this 12th edition of Madrid Architecture Week includes lectures, round tables, exhibitions, screenings and a host of other activities. Until 11 October the event will offer participants a chance to visit Madrid’s iconic buildings and take part in several city tours. The Pop Arq Store product design fair rounds off the programme, which features Berlin as this year’s guest city.

 Theatre Calendar
During October, Madrid’s municipal theatres will offer a premiere-studded season of theatre. Audiences can enjoy productions including El burlador de Sevilla (Sala Principal) and Al galope (Sala Margarita Xirgu) at Teatro Español; Cuando deje de llover (Sala Fernando Arrabal) and El arquitecto y el emperador de Asiria (Sala Max Aub) at Las Naves del Español; and La estrella de Sevilla (Sala Guirau) and Stockmann (Sala Jardiel Poncela) at Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa.

Titanic: The Exhibition
The world’s top exhibition devoted to the Titanic catastrophe can now be viewed in Madrid. Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa brings history fans a selection of nearly 200 original items and life-sized reproductions of several of the ocean liner’s rooms. Highlights include the jewel that inspired James Cameron to make the film Titanic and watches and clocks that stopped at the exact time the ship went down. It’s a unique experience that provides visitors with interesting facts about the vessel, covering everything from the time of its creation to the current state of the remains. Titanic: The Exhibition is on until March 2016.

Cabaret

Madrid’s Gran Vía celebrates the tenth anniversary of the successful Spanish run of the classic Broadway show Cabaret. From Tuesday to Sunday, Teatro Rialto will host this revival production, which is set in Berlin in the final years of the Weimar Republic and tells the story of the Kit Kat Klub. The show has been translated into over 30 languages and performed in more than 50 countries, and features one of musical theatre’s most iconic soundtracks. Tickets are on sale until 29 November.

The October edition of esMADRIDmagazine focuses on two of the main events in Madrid’s cultural and leisure calendar, Architecture Week and the Villamanuela Festival. The free monthly publication also includes a selection of the best events to be enjoyed in the capital city’s museums and other cultural venues, such as the exhibitions Kandinsky: A Retrospective (CentroCentro), Edvard Munch (Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum), The Divine Morales (Prado Museum) and Constant – New Babylon (Reina Sofía Museum), in addition to other musical, sporting and culinary activities.
