LGBTI Pride Festival
After successfully hosting World Pride in 2017, once again the city of Madrid will show the world its open, diverse and tolerant nature with its celebration of the LGBTI Pride Festival. This year is Pride's 40th anniversary in Madrid, and the city will celebrate in style with a fun cultural event that will centre around the Chueca neighbourhood but will also spread out and flood the capital's main streets. Music, art and sport will all have a place in a programme that will kick off on 28 June and whose highlight will be the massive national Pride march.

Mira Madrid (“Look at Madrid”)
Mira Madrid
The City Council’s Tourism Department hosted the first edition of Mira Madrid (“Look at Madrid”), a programme of activities designed to celebrate Responsible Tourism Day in Madrid. It allowed the city to showcase and introduce people to twelve of its most curious places, including the Royal Tapestry Factory, Tirso de Molina Market, Faro de Moncloa observation deck, the Silo de Hortaleza, the Rose Garden in Oeste Park and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

ILTM Asia Pacific
Promotion of Madrid in Brazil, Australia and Singapor
In May, Madrid participated in three specialised tourism events, presenting its “premium” range of tourist attractions at the international level: ILTM LATAM (Sao Paulo), Virtuoso Travel Week on Tour (Australia) and ILTM Asia Pacific (Singapore). Content only available in Spanish.

IMEX Frankfurt
IMEX Frankfurt
Through Madrid Convention Bureau, the City Council’s Tourism Department attended IMEX Frankfurt, a fair devoted to business tourism. At the event, where it presented the attractions of the capital as a venue for professional meetings, it was accompanied by ten companies with ties to Madrid's tourism sector. Content only available in Spanish.

Madrid in the global Top Ten for LGBTI tourism
The city of Madrid is a leading destination for LGBTI tourism. The British LGBT Awards, the community’s most prestigious accolades, rank the capital as one of the Top Ten favourite destinations for gay tourism, the only Spanish city on a list which also features Tel Aviv, Berlin, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Buenos Aires, Palm Springs, Reykjavik, Taipei and Tokyo.

Film tourism at Fitur
Madrid’s International Tourism Trade Fair have announced that their next edition will feature a themed area devoted to film tourism. The new monographic section will join the ranks of the fair’s existing ones such as Fitur Health, Fitur Festivals and Fitur Gay LGBT, and will promote locations where TV series, films and ads have been shot. Fitur 2019 will be held from 23 to 27 January at Feria de Madrid.

Madrid in numbers
In the first quarter of 2018, the city of Madrid was the top destination in Spain in terms of both the number of travellers and the number of overnight stays. The capital was the city with the fourth highest growth (3% with respect to the 1st quarter of 2017), after Palma, Valencia and Seville. According to the Tourism Expenditure Survey (EGATUR), total spending in the Community of Madrid was 1.865 billion euros, 8% higher than in the same period last year and in line with the growth recorded in Spain as a whole. A Summer Story
Madrid, capital of music
In the coming months, Madrid will turn into the world’s capital of music par excellence as it hosts various major music events and festivals. Some of them will be held in June: Festival Paraíso (8-9 June), A Summer Story (22-23 June), Mulafest (22-24 June), Download Festival (28-30 June) and Noches del Botánico (beginning on 21 June).

PHotoEspaña
The latest trends and the most innovative photographic and visual arts works will be on display in the city of Madrid from 6 June to 26 August as the capital hosts a new edition of the international festival PHotoEspaña which will feature over 100 exhibitions in 62 different cultural centres, showcasing the work of more than 500 artists.

Fiesta Corral Cervantes
Fiesta Corral Cervantes
The cultural effervescence that distinguished the Spanish Golden Age can be experienced in situ in Madrid at Fiesta Corral Cervantes, an event whose name pays tribute to the era’s famous open-air theatres and the writer Cervantes. It will feature plays and music concerts from the period, held in a place in Madrid with strong links to culture and literature: La Cuesta de Moyano. Artisanal goods and gastronomy round out the event, which will begin on 20 June.

Cocktail Week Madrid 
Madrid positions itself as a top city for cocktails. Over the course of a week (from 11 to 17 June), Cocktail Week Madrid will invite us, for the first time ever, on a cocktail tour of over 50 establishments in four different areas: the centre and Gran Vía; Fuencarral, Chamberí and Malasaña; La Latina; and Barrio de Salamanca.

The city's hop on-hop off sightseeing bus offers audio guides in 14 languages as well as two different routes: Historical Madrid and Modern Madrid. The Legacy of Plaza Mayor’s 4th Centenary
This month The Legacy of Plaza Mayor’s 4th Centenary features the activity Arquitectura de Feria (Fair Architecture), a world of illusion created with machines that are envisioned as peculiar, absurd and surreal devices, which visitors can come out to discover on 9 and 10 June. The constructions are made from objects that have fallen into disuse, which come back to life at the hands of the Antigua y Barbuda company and with the participation of the association Bambolea and the Carampa circus school.
