At the end of the European Council, the President of the Government expressed his satisfaction at the boost given by the meeting to cooperation on counter-terrorism, European defence, trade agreements, energy interconnections and the Digital Agenda. He also advocated Barcelona's candidature to host the European Medicines Agency.

The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, before attending the European Council, stated to the media that he hopes that the Spanish Parliament will ratify the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Canada, because its approval will benefit Spain and the EU as a whole.

The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, during the government control session in the Lower House of Parliament, asserted that he does not have to assess the rulings handed down by courts but comply with them. That was his response in relation to the recent rulings by the Constitutional Court on the fiscal regularisation of 2012 and by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on the Atutxa Case.

Through the approval of this new legislation, the government seeks to strengthen a sector that represents 6% of the Spanish credit system. The Council of Ministers also approved the distribution of 268.5 million euros to regional governments to boost social policies and modified the economic and fiscal regime in the Canary Islands.
