The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, advocated pushing through a common European security and defence policy, cooperation on counter-terrorism, banking union, energy interconnections and the Mediterranean Corridor at his meeting in Paris with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

With 82 votes in favour, 170 against and 97 abstentions, the Plenary Session of the Lower House of Parliament has rejected the motion of no confidence presented by Unidos Podemos-En Comú Podem-En Marea against the Government of Spain led by Mariano Rajoy.

In response to what he described as a "frivolous use of the motion of no confidence", the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, offered up a series of figures: Spain is growing by 3% year-on-year, at double the rate of the Eurozone average, 500,000 jobs are being created each year and National Insurance contributions are at an all-time high.
