GASTROFESTIVAL MADRID
The most noteworthy gastronomic and cultural event in Madrid’s calendar is back. Gastrofestival Madrid will be held from 21 January to 5 February to showcase one of the capital’s biggest attractions: its gastronomy.
With the slogan Delectable Madrid, the eighth edition of this feast for the senses returns with a comprehensive programme full of appetising treats, not only culinary in nature but also relating to artistic disciplines like literature, film, painting, music and theatre. It will feature special set menus, tastings, workshops, gastronomic tours, concerts and discussions made possible by the participation of restaurants, museums, cultural centres, markets, shops and bookstores. The events will be structured around six categories: Gastronomic Madrid, GastroCulture, Sensory Experiences, GastroFashion, GastroHealth and Wine Culture. Gastrofestival Madrid is organised by the Madrid City Council, through the Madrid Destino Tourism Department and Madrid Fusión.

From 18 to 22 January the city of Madrid will display all that it has to offer in the way of tourism, culture and leisure at Fitur, the International Tourism Fair. This event, which is a meeting place for professionals from the tourism industry all over the world, is also open to the public and has firmly established itself as a window to the latest market trends. In its role as host Madrid will showcase new features and offer information on its tourism attractions and the major events scheduled for the city in 2017, such as Plaza Mayor’s 400th anniversary and the WorldPride Madrid celebrations, which will take place from 23 June to 2 July.

2017 Calendar of events
In order not to miss a single one of the major artistic, cultural and leisure events that the city of Madrid has in store for 2017, the capital’s official tourism website has put together a selection of the most noteworthy upcoming events in Madrid.  | | Madrid is culture
A new edition of the triannual publication Madrid is Culture, which details the most noteworthy exhibitions that can be viewed at the capital’s art galleries, museums and other cultural centres. Of particular note between January and April are four exhibitions devoted to Charles III at the Royal Palace, the Archaeological Museum, the History Museum and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Also of interest are Masterworks from Budapest at the Thyssen-Bornemisza, Bruce Conner at the Reina Sofía, Return to Beauty at the Mapfre Foundation, Auschwitz at Arte Canal Exhibition Centre, and Bacon: The Question of Drawing at Círculo de Bellas Artes.

Inverfest 2017
From 12 to 29 January Teatro Circo Price will host Inverfest 2017, a series of concerts with a varied range of musical genres, including everything from flamenco to rock, symphony music and cabaret. The winter festival has been the first stop on music tours and has hosted presentations of new albums. This year its line-up will feature bands and artists like La Habitación Roja, Carlos Núñez, José Mercé, Elefantes, James Rhodes, Carmen Linares, The Gift and Furious Monkey House.

Asisa Madrid Fusión
From 23 to 25 January Madrid will turn into the capital of current gastronomic trends. Palacio Municipal de Congresos, the municipal convention centre, will host the 15th edition of Madrid Fusión, the International Gastronomy Summit, which will gather over 100 national and international chefs for more than 70 technical demonstrations, educational workshops and other activities. This year, which features Argentina as guest country, Madrid Fusión will once again be a forum for debate over the paths that will be taken by haute cuisine in the future, addressing topics like energy efficiency, new technologies and recycling.

The festive season is nearly upon us, which means that the city of Madrid is getting ready to host another “Christmas at the Price”, the show with which Teatro Circo Price bids farewell to 2016 and welcomes in the New Year. Wonderful creatures, acrobats, trapeze artists and clowns will be taking audiences on an entertaining journey that will thrill adults and children alike. Tickets for shows, scheduled from 2 December until 8 January, are up for grabs now, with some great discounts of between 20% and 40% on advance ticket sales.
