The Vice-President of the Government and the twelve ministers that make up the new government were sworn in to their new posts by His Majesty King Felipe VI, in a ceremony held at Zarzuela Palace, in the presence of the President of the Government.
Pursuant to the provisions of Articles 62 and 100 of the Spanish Constitution, the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, proposed the appointment of the following members of the government to His Majesty the King:
Mariano Rajoy was sworn in as President of the Government by King Felipe VI and in the presence of the acting Minister for Justice, Rafael Catalá, as Commissioner for Oaths, on Monday 31 October, at Zarzuela Palace.
The first Council of Ministers under the new government tackled the economic situation and the government's commitments on education and regional financing, as well as the upcoming call for social dialogue and the Toledo Pact.
