The acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, remarked in a press conference following the Informal EU Meeting that cooperation and the exchange of information between countries are key in tackling terrorism. "In today's world, separation leads to irrelevance and impotence", he claimed.

The acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, maintained at the presentation of a book by the Minister for Economic Affairs and Competition, Luis de Guindos, that since the end of 2011, the most significant raft of reforms has been carried out in the recent history of Spain. The main result, he said, is that unemployment is now falling at a rate of 9% whereas back then it was growing at a rate of 10%.

The acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, received the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, at Moncloa Palace, who was on a working visit to Madrid with the aim of preparing for the Informal Summit of Heads of State and Government that will take place in Bratislava (Slovakia) on Friday, 16 September.

The Council of Ministers also authorised the construction of two antennas on the installations of the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (Spanish acronym: INTA) and has given the go-ahead for the acquisition of material to improve the security of the National Police.
