MADRID IS CULTURE
To find out about the most important exhibitions being held in Madrid’s main museums, cultural spaces and art galleries during the last quarter of the year you can download the new version of Madrid is Culture. The publication, available in Spanish and English and produced by municipal company Madrid Destino, includes a well-chosen selection of 44 exhibitions covering various themes with interesting information about each one.
In addition to the must-see exhibitions in the galleries on the Paseo del Arte (Art Walk), including Ribera at the Prado, Bvlgari and Rome at the Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Marcel Broodthaers: A Retrospective at the Reina Sofía, there are new, irresistible offerings from other museums and cultural spaces. For example, the Lázaro Galdiano Museum brings us Rehabitar el espacio: presente, pasado y future (Reinhabiting Space: Present, Past and Future); the National Museum of Anthropology is hosting De la fotografía al azulejo (From Photography to Tiles); the Naval Museum El galeón de Manila (The Manila Galleon); and the Sorolla Museum Sorolla en París (Sorolla in Paris). The Espacio Fundación Telefónica has a treat in store with Hitchcock, Beyond Suspense and 1, 2, 3… Recording!, while Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa offers the exhibition The Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes.

| | Hotel Tapa Tour
Madrid’s star gastronomic offering this month is the first edition of the Hotel Tapa Tour, from 15 to 25 September. It’s a tapas route competition featuring signature dishes, which aims to demonstrate the culinary quality of the city’s hotels and promote it among locals and visitors alike. Each of the 24 four- or five-star hotels participating in this initiative must prepare one tapa for the event, which will be assessed by a judging panel (comprising professionals and non-professionals), and a solidarity tapa, the proceeds of which will go to social or environmental causes. The itinerary can be done at random or by following any of the eight separate routes proposed by the organisers.
