The President of the Government, in his appearance following the meeting of the Council of Ministers, declared that the public accounts for the coming year provide for a 0.25% rise in pensions, a 1% salary increase for public workers and that 53.5% of all spending is given over to social issues.

At the start of the ministerial meeting of the United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee, the President of the Government defended the need for "global responses" and "comprehensive strategies" to combat terrorism because it constitutes "a global phenomenon" that affects "security, political, economic and financial, cultural, educational, social and humanitarian issues".
