The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, attended the 27th ordinary meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Carolina Foundation, that is commemorating its 15th anniversary.
During question time in the Lower House of Parliament, the President of the Government has defended his economic policy, as it has enabled Spain to avoid a bailout and to overcome the economic crisis: "Although there is still a lot to be done", the economy is already growing and creating jobs. Now there are more people in work, fewer people unemployed and more people contributing to the Social Security system than when we came to government," he said.
The President of the Government also praised the strength of the Spanish food industry, "a key sector in the Spanish economy", which accounts for 8.4% of the country's domestic output. Rajoy made the statement during Spain Day at Expo 2015, which is being held in Milan with the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life".
The measure represents a step forward in strengthening relations between Spain and the United States on defence issues. The Vice-President of the Government, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, announced that the government will approve the ceiling on spending under the General State Budget for 2016 next Friday; accounts which will help ensure that the economic recovery reaches all of society.
