While speaking at the closing ceremony of the 31st Meeting of the Círculo de Economía in Sitges, the President of the Government defended his current economic policy because it is "the one creating jobs and improving life for people" and because it will enable Spain to achieve "the longest cycle of growth we have ever seen". He also said that the next employment and Social Security data will be very well-received.
The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, met with executives from the Bertelsmann Group and from the Westphalia Business Forum, including Liz Mohn, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Managing Company of Bertelsmann and founder of the Business Forum, and Cristoph Mohn, Chair of the Board of Directors of Bertelsmann.
While speaking at the government control session in the Lower House of Parliament, the President of the Government argued that the policy adopted by the Government of Spain has enabled "local council authorities in Spain to clean up their books, pay their debts on time and operate better than anyone". Mariano Rajoy also highlighted the "significant amounts" being invested by the Government of Spain in infrastructure in Catalonia.
While speaking in the Upper House of Parliament, the President of the Government said that the indicators on economic growth and job creation are improving, meaning that inequality will fall. Furthermore, he said that the Government of Spain's philosophy is to continue lowering taxes as far as the revenue increase allows.
The Council of Ministers also regulated the publication of the list of taxpayers with outstanding tax debts and fines in excess of 1 million euros. Furthermore, it authorised the permanent deployment of a military force from the United States at Morón de la Frontera Air Base (Seville).
