PHOTOESPAÑA 2015
Once again the city of Madrid will host a new edition of PHotoEspaña, International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, now in its 18th year. New this summer is the extension of the programme by one month; the festival will now run until 30 August. Continuing the practice begun last year of focusing on a specific geographic area rather than on a theme, this edition of the festival will be dedicated exclusively to Latin American photography, touching on its origins, development and complexity with works by established artists as well as younger photographers.
Of particular note amongst the shows to be hosted by museums, art galleries and cultural centres this edition are: the work of Mario Cravo Neto, one of the top names in Brazilian photography and culture; the group exhibition Locus: Spaces and Demons curated by Gerardo Mosquera and comprising photos from the Daros Latin American collection; and the group exhibitions depicting the evolution of Mexican photography curated by Ana Casas Broda, Gabriela González Reyes and Gerardo Montiel Klint.
