SPAIN THIS WEEK




The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, is on a trip to Mali and Senegal to visit Spanish troops on European missions in the region. He will also meet with the main authorities in these countries.This is the third time that the President of the Government has visited the troops abroad, in December 2012 he went to Afghanistan and in December2013 he travelled to Djibouti



The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, bestowed the Gold Medal for Merit at Work on the tennis star Rafael Nadal, for his professional career, hard work and dedication.



The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, received the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, within the framework of his official visit to Spain. Following the meeting, the two countries signed four bilateral agreements.



After the visit made by the President of the Regional Government of the Balearic Islands, José Ramón Bauzá, to the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, at Moncloa Palace, the government has announced that at Thursday's Council of Ministers meeting it will approve an amendment to the Law governing the Special Regime of the Balearic Islands in order to introduce a new tax incentive with great potential aimed at encouraging investment in the islands.



During the government control session in the Lower House of Parliament, the President of the Government stressed that the measures adopted by the Government of Spain and the "outstanding work" by the Spanish Tax Agency have enabled 124 billion euros previously being kept overseas to now form part of the tax bases in Spain.



The President of the Government is due to receive the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, at Moncloa Palace on Thursday as part of an official visit to Spain, the first since 2004.


While talking in the Upper House of Parliament, the President of the Government reiterated that Spain will grow by 2.9% in 2015 and it will be the EU country where most jobs are created this year. He also highlighted the loyalty of Central Government with Catalonia and the investments made in the Basque Country.


In a breakfast chat organised by Europa Press in Madrid, the President of the Government spoke first about the economy, stressing that the aim now is to consolidate and build on the new economic cycle and to safeguard the growth and job creation process, in order to "avoid losing the ground which cost us so much to gain".


The Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona hosted the solemn ceremony in memory of the victims of the Germanwings plane crash on 24 March in the French Alps, which was attended by more than a thousand people.


The government has increased the growth forecast to 2.9% in 2015 and expects more than half a million jobs to be created each year from now to 2018. Public debt will start to fall in 2016 and public administration services will reach budgetary balance in 2018. Moreover, the Council of Ministers regulated the marketing of audiovisual rights for professional football.
