The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, announced new incentives for independent contractors and the possibility for entrepreneurs of capitalising entire unemployment benefit to start up independent economic activity.

The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, received the new Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, at Moncloa Palace today as part of a round of consultation meetings being held by the NATO representative with various allied Heads of State and Government since he took office on 1 October 2014. This is his first official meeting with the President of the Government.

During the government control session, Mariano Rajoy listed the social inclusion measures implemented over the course of the economic crisis. He also highlighted the important nature of industrial policy "for generating economic growth and creating jobs", and stressed that coordinated action was taken from the outset in response to the flooding along the River Ebro.

At the closing ceremony of a business meeting in Guatemala City, the President of the Government highlighted the dynamic nature of economic relations between Spain and the countries that make up the Central American Integration System (Spanish acronym: SICA). Mariano Rajoy also defended economic openness and integration as the driving forces for growth and job creation.

At the Spain-SICA (Central American Integration System) Summit, the President of the Government highlighted Spain's role as a gateway between Central America and the European Union. Furthermore, he advocated the strengthening of economic relations and joint efforts in terms of security issues.

The President of the Government of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, met with the President of the Republic of Guatemala, Otto Pérez Molina, to discuss the health of bilateral relations and other issues related to the economy, development aid and security.

The government also tackled the reform of the Employment and Social Security Inspectorate to improve efficiency in the fight against fraud and to enhance health and safety at work. It also presented a new legal framework for the railway sector to drive demand and increase safety.
